!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
has proven to me that the new Navigator is pretty badass.
I’d still rather have an Escalade though for various reasons, one being that the Navigator just doesn’t quite have the same class and presence on the outside like the Escalade does. The Navigator makes up for it tenfold on the inside though.

I’m so glad it’s good. I have a big soft spot for Lincolns and watching them release the Town Car and the Zephyr and the MKZ was just painful. But these new ones are just masterworks visually, and I was surprised to hear how high-quality the interior is.

This is my new “if I had to spend 100 grand on one car” Car.

Don’t know why he thinks that thing is good looking.

This is the competition.

I understand where you’re coming from about the escalade, but a consistent theme I’ve been hearing and seeing in the Navigator reviews is how it genuinely is the new benchmark, and once again shows the escalade is still just a tarted-up tahoe. Sure, rappers and the like may still prefer the escalade (easier to rhyme than Navigator), but I’ve seen more folks gravitate to the bus-like Mercedes or the Range Rover lately, and some are/were waiting for the BMW X7. Plus the escalade is not the most family-friendly, especially with the high lift-over height for the rear cargo area, cramped rear seats, and consistently-underwhelming interior.
The Navigator comes at a perfect time as the rest of the class isn’t set to have a new or refreshed model (except the aforementioned X7) for some time, so it should have a good chance to become dominant.
Now if only Ford would make the Continental on a RWD platform with coach doors...

From everything I’ve seen about the Escalade, it makes more sense to just get the Denali or Tahoe LTZ. 97% of the nice for a lower price.

I’m just not sure about the weird gap between the center console and the dash.

I like it, it looks like a perfect spot to put a backpack or a handbag. I never know where to put a backpack in a car, wherever you do it it kinda sucks.

why would someone but those ugly wheels on a bloated Flex...

I understand what it’s for, I just don’t like it. The Prius had a little bridge over but the disconnect bothers me.

On a second view, what I love is how the wheels in motion mimic the speaker grills on the interior that Doug raved about for so long. Pretty cool.

But.... a 2008 Caravan has that same convex mirror that he fawned over.
Ergo, our 190k 2008 Caravan parts van is the same as a 2018 Navigator.

I like the front.
The back is ho-hum.
It also needs either more wheel, or more tire.

let me know when they have a new Blackwood

I think you nailed my issue with the styling tbh, it looks far too boring for a $100,000 SUV. The Escalade looks a lot more interesting.

But in the same sense that the Escalade is a tarted up Tahoe with a better interior, the Navigator is a tarted up Expedition in the same exact sense. I hate that argument a lot because it seems to be a double-edged sword in a lot of cases, especially coming from LX570 and QX80 owners.

It’s not like it’s inherently bad looking, it’s just a bit bland for a $100k SUV.

Oh yeah I didn’t notice that it’s not connected. Now it bothers me, too.

This is very true, and a point I intended to make but forgot to.
My view is that the Navigator is SO much more different than the Expedition compared to how different the escalade is to a tahoe, that it’s worthwhile and effective. Similar differences would be the old QX56 compared to the Armada (since the new QX80 is a rebadged Patrol), or the BMW X1 compared to the Mini Countryman. That said, the Expedition Limited gets damn close to Navigator, but that’s the point.

There are other wheels, these match the concept vehicle.
The Navigator has little in common with the FWD-based Flex.

I would argue that the Escalade is not far off, considering you get a more Cadillac style interior like the Navigator, but I see where you’re coming from.

This is $260k+ and it’s not exactly exciting to look at. ‘Refined’ is really all you can ask from a luxury SUV.

I would buy this over a Escalade anyday. The ECOboost is fun! (i haven’t driven the 2018 yet, just my share of 2017 expeditions with the same motor).

Wheels too busy, front not bad, IMHO.
